Senate Bill 17 as introduced would require the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts to perform audits on non-profit corporations that provide water services to the public and that are not organized by a county or municipality as a public corporation. This would increase the administrative obligations of the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts by an undetermined amount dependent upon the cost of each audit or examination performed on each provider, which would be offset by the Department of the Examiners of Public Accounts ability to charge a reasonable fee for services performed.
