Senate Bill 90 as introduced removes the Jefferson County exemption from the temporary assignment of a circuit or district judge, by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama, to another judicial circuit or by a presiding circuit judge within his or her circuit. This could increase the travel and maintenance expenses of the Unified Judicial System by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of Jefferson County circuit and district court judges assigned to serve within another judicial circuit and the amount of time served in that judicial circuit.
