FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 244 as introduced would increase the obligations of local animal control authorities by undetermined amount to register and regulate individuals possessing large wild cats, great apes, wolves, or non-native bears, the cost of which may be offset, wholly or in part, by the one-time $500 per location registration fee and the $100 per animal annual fee paid by individuals possessing these animals.

Also, this bill could increase receipts to the State General Fund and municipal general funds from fines; increase receipts to the State General Fund, county general funds, municipal general funds, and other funds to which court costs are deposited; and could increase the obligations of the district attorneys and local jails by an amount dependent upon the number of persons charged with and convicted of the offenses provided by this bill and the penalties imposed.
