House Bill 420 as amended and reported and amended by the Committee on Transportation, Utilities and Infrastructure would establish an application fee, effective January 1, 2022, for distinctive license plates in the amount equal to the cost of producing a distinctive license plate template, not to exceed $100, which would be used to cover the cost to the Alabama Department of Corrections to produce a template for a new distinctive license plate.
Additionally, this bill would reduce receipts to the various counties, license plate issuance entities, and the Alabama Department of Revenue by a small undetermined amount for permanently affixing the current design of the Alabama Gold Star Family license plate.
