SYNOPSIS:This bill would enable a parent or guardian of a student at a public K-12 school to opt out of any requirement that the student must wear a face covering at the school, at a school function, on a school bus, or at a school bus stop.

A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

Relating to public K-12 schools; to enable a parent or guardian of a student at a public K-12 school to opt out of a requirement for that student to wear a face covering.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. The parent or guardian of a student of a public K-12 school shall have the right to opt out of any order or requirement for that student to wear a face covering at the school, at a school function, on a school bus, or at a school bus stop, by communicating in writing to the school or to the local board of education the parent's or guardian's intent to opt out of the order or requirement.

Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
